The Area Youth Benefit fund, established by Farmers' Electric Cooperative in 1993, has distributed more than $711,000 to help 656 northern Missouri families pay medical bills for their children. It is supported by fundraising events (dinner/auction and golf tournament) held every August. The golf tournament is a three person (best shot) scramble. The $100/player entry fee covers cart rental, green fees, skirts, lunch, prizes and registration gifts. Applications for assistance are reviewed by a three member AYBF Board of Directors. Eligible families live in the counties of Linn, Chariton, Livingston, Carroll, Ray, Caldwell, Daviess, Dekalb, or Clinton and have medical bills for a child/children 18 years of age or younger. The family does NOT have to be a member of Farmers' Electric Cooperative in order to receive assistance.
